Capturing Memorable Moments

Capturing memorable moments.

Introduction:

Indian weddings are known for their grandeur, vibrancy, and cultural richness. They are a celebration of love, family, and traditions. Capturing memorable moments is the essence of an wedding photographer that requires skill, understanding, and creativity. In this blog, we will explore some valuable tips and techniques to ensure that you can beautifully document the magic of Indian weddings. Before we move ahead make sure you take a look at the our portfolio at wedingsbyuttam.com

Familiarize Yourself with Indian Traditions:

Indian weddings are steeped in diverse rituals and customs. Before embarking on your photography or videography journey, take the time to learn about the different ceremonies, their significance, and the moments that hold special importance. This understanding will enable you to anticipate and capture the most poignant moments authentically.

Plan and Scout the Venue:

Indian weddings are often held in expansive venues, and each location offers its unique challenges and opportunities. Visit the venue in advance to familiarize yourself with the space, identify potential backdrops, and find the best angles for capturing key moments. Preparing a shot list and timeline will help you stay organized and ensure that you don’t miss any essential shots. Don’t forget to take reference shots.

Capture the Colours and Details:

Indian weddings are a riot of colours, intricate decorations and stunning attire. Make it a priority to capture the vibrant hues and elaborate details that define these celebrations. Pay attention to the bridal
attire, jewellery, mehndi designs, and floral arrangements. Close-up shots highlighting these elements will add a touch of elegance and artistry to your work.

Be Mindful of Lighting Conditions:

Lighting plays a crucial role in photography and videography. Indian weddings often feature a mix of indoor and outdoor ceremonies, each with its unique lighting challenges. Familiarize yourself with
different lighting techniques, such as using reflectors or diffusers, to control harsh sunlight or dimly lit venues. Experimenting with different angles and artificial lighting sources can help you achieve the desired ambiance and enhance the visual appeal of your captures.

Get the correct colour in your images:

White balance is crucial in wedding photography as it ensures accurate colour reproduction and sets the mood of the images. Correct white balance ensures that the bride’s dress appears pristine, floral
arrangements look vibrant, and skin tones are natural. It enhances the overall aesthetics and evokes the true atmosphere of the special day. It also helps in creating a standard of customized look for you photographs. Try and use white balance tools like Expodisc, Colorchecker passports or grey cards for important photography sessions.

Get the right equipment:

When it comes to wedding photography in India, having the right equipment is essential. A professional camera body with high-resolution capabilities and low-light performance is crucial. A selection of lenses,
including a wide-angle lens for capturing venue details and group shots, a zoom lens for versatile coverage, and a prime lens for beautiful portraits, is recommended. Additionally, external flashes or continuous lighting, extra batteries, memory cards, and a sturdy tripod are indispensable for capturing
the diverse and vibrant moments of Indian weddings.

Capture Candid Moments:

Indian weddings are a treasure trove of candid moments filled with joy, emotion, and laughter. Be discreet, observe keenly, and seize these unscripted instances. Candid shots provide a glimpse into the genuine emotions and interactions between family members, friends, and the couple. These candid shots will undoubtedly bring warmth and authenticity to your portfolio.

Communicate and Coordinate:

Clear communication with the couple, their families, and other vendors involved in the wedding is vital. Understand their expectations, preferences, and any specific shots they desire. Coordinate with the wedding planner, videographer, and other professionals to ensure a smooth workflow. Collaborating with others will help you capture the best moments and create a cohesive visual narrative.

Showcase Cultural Elements:

Indian weddings are an amalgamation of various cultural traditions. Emphasize capturing these unique aspects that reflect the diversity of the celebration. From traditional dances like the Sangeet and Garba to the exchange of garlands or the seven pheras during the ceremony, these elements contribute to the richness of Indian weddings. Showcasing these cultural nuances will evoke a sense of nostalgia and cultural pride.

Be Prepared for Long Hours:

Indian weddings are known for their extended durations and multiple events spread over several days. As a photographer or videographer, be prepared for long hours of work, sometimes in challenging conditions. Take care of your equipment, bring extra batteries, memory cards, and backup gear to ensure uninterrupted coverage. Staying physically and mentally prepared will enable you to capture every precious moment without missing a beat.

Be professional and look professional:

The attire of a wedding photographer should strike a balance between professionalism and practicality. Opt for a polished and neat look, such as dress pants or a skirt with a button-up shirt or blouse. Comfortable shoes are essential for long hours on your feet, and pockets or a small bag can hold your essentials. Dress subtly, allowing the couple to remain the centre of attention.

Conclusion:

Photographing or filming an Indian wedding is a rewarding yet challenging experience. By understanding the traditions, embracing the vibrant colours, capturing candid moments, and showcasing the cultural elements, you can create a visually stunning and emotionally resonant documentation of this special occasion. Remember, it’s not just about capturing photographs or videos; it’s about preserving the love, joy, and cherished memories that will be treasured for generations to come.

Candids and Pre-weddings

We provide Candid wedding photography which has a modern and photojournalistic approach. We aim in creating timeless memories of you and your loved ones that are natural, everlasting, and filled with funs and emotions. We try to tell a story while creating an all-inclusive view of the wedding festivities that are happening around for the couple to relive over the years in the future.

We try and cover all that goes around in a wedding. For example, we include shots right from the Bride and Groom getting ready, detailed shots of bridal make-up, jewellery, outfits, venue, decor, their portraits – individual and together, portraits of immediate family members, guests that actively participate in the wedding, all the ceremonies & rituals – creative detail close-ups and documentary-style wide-angle shots.

No! We do not shoot Conventional style Photos and Videos but we do have tie-ups with independent photographers and videographers who get the job done for us. These teams have been handpicked by us and they work well with us. We would be happy to share a sample of the work they have done for us previously. This way we function as a one-stop solution.

Yes! We present the Wedding album option only after delivery of all images and upon final payments, the album usually takes another 2-3 weeks to be printed and delivered to you. PLEASE NOTE: Wedding Albums are optional and unless part of any package, they are charged separately.

From the day final payments are made and received into our accounts, Post-production work will begin. This usually takes 30-45 days to complete, after which finalization and delivery of images and films are done within 10-15 days.

Depending on the duration of the events, we deliver 300 -500 soft copies of post-processed images per wedding. The images will be in both low-res and high-res versions that will be delivered to you through a cloud drive. Please note we do not deliver DVDs anymore since they are outdated. The deliverables will be available for you to download for up to three months after the images are delivered. However, if you need them to stay for a little longer on the cloud platform, please let us know in advance.

Once we deliver the pictures, we ask clients to do multiple backups. We usually keep them with us for 60-90 days from the day of delivery before deleting them from Cloud platform. However, if you need them to stay for a little longer on the cloud platform, please let us know in advance.

RAW, unedited images are not made available for viewing or printing. This is part of my effort to set very high-quality standards. Images that don’t make it through the cut are rejected because they may be blurry, heavily underexposed, or trash-worthy. Images we give you are handpicked from the best ones that are clicked. These pictures showcase the best of our work.

We may! If your wedding results in terrific wedding photos (and we are sure it will!), we would love to share those pictures on our portfolio website and social channels as examples of great work we’ve done, so that other couples may also be inspired by your wedding. Should you specifically NOT want us to show your wedding photos on our channels, let us know beforehand. There is no official policy on how to approach these situations, and there might be a middle ground we can work out.

Our base is in Mumbai and we work from home as due to the nature of work, we are always on the move.

Yes, we care about every individual taste and liking towards certain kinds of photographs, hence you can share your sample “shot-list” so we can try and plan a shoot around it by adding some of our creative elements.

PLEASE NOTE, Good photographs that you often see of couples or the bride and groom are widely dependent upon the location of the shoot. Other factors like the type of venue, timings, available lighting conditions, decorations and lights, props and accessories, the subjects, their wardrobe, and make-up, ability to pose, and very importantly the right attitude plays a very important role in creating good photographs. Difficult as it may seem, creating beautiful imagery from the odds is my final goal.

Good images, create better memories! Money spent on wedding venues, décor, food, dresses, and event management is unlikely to be remembered as well as it should be if they are not well photographed. The only memories that will remain are tastefully captured pictures and videos from every event.

We understand that getting married is an expensive affair, but good quality photography comes with a price. Considering these factors in mind, we keep our price as nominal as possible while justifying the efforts that go behind delivering quality images. So, wedding photography should be the last place where you should compromise.

Along with the assignment, you own the full usage rights to your wedding photos for non-commercial use, which means you can do whatever you want with your wedding photos (like making more albums, taking prints, sending them out to relatives, sharing them online, and what have you). The only thing you cannot do is resell your wedding images – which I am sure you will not want to do! As a photographer, we will own the ‘copyright’ to the photographs, which means we will own the author rights to the photograph.

Pre-wedding photography is very popular among young couples and is highly recommended for all couples. Photographs from a pre-wedding shoot are shared on social media with families and friends and are often used to make an official announcement.

These shoots can be a fabulous way to get accustomed to my style and of course, being in front of the camera. Wedding clients also use photographs from their pre-wedding shoots in their wedding albums. These couple shoots are not just limited to wedding clients, they are also lovely anniversary, Valentine’s Day, and birthday gifts.

Once you book a pre-wedding session with me, I will either meet you in person or have a telephonic discussion with you providing you alternatives of shoot locations, some of which are free and somewhere a permission fee is required which is taken care of by the client. I will also decide upon the clothes to wear that matches the theme.

Pre-wedding photography is done to showcase love, bonding, emotions, and chemistry between the couple. You will get a mix of candid shots and posed pictures directed by me.

For Pre-wedding photo sessions, you will get around 40-50 post-processed color corrected images.

For “Save The Date” videos you get 1-3 minutes long film depending on the package.

Payments are done in two parts. First, a retainer fee/booking amount, which is 50% of the agreed amount is required to be deposited to formally book your wedding dates. Second, the final 50% balance is to be paid on the day of the wedding or shoot. Any additional services bought during the shoot will be charged at actual and billed to the client.
Please Note:  Travel, food, and accommodation for the team are borne by the client.
Also: All post-production and editing of images, videos, and films will only commence after final payments are made and received into our accounts. It usually takes 30-45 days to complete the post-production process after which finalization and delivery of images and films are done within 10-15 days.

Any delay in final payments will further delay the time taken for final delivery.
